नए साल की पहली कैबिनेट मीटिंग में किसानों के लिए अहम प्रस्तावों को मंजूरी मिली है. इसमें डीएपी (DAP) फर्टिलाइजर बनाने वाली कंपनियों के लिए सरकार ने स्पेशल पैकेज को मंजूरी दी है. इससे किसानों को डीएपी के लिए अधिक कीमत नहीं चुकानी पड़ेगी और वो खाद पर ज्यादा सब्सिडी हासिल कर पाएंगे. DAP बनाने वाली कंपनियों को मिलने वाली सब्सिडी के अतिरिक्त सरकार वित्तीय मदद भी देगी.

बिहार की राजधानी पटना में BPSC अभ्यर्थियों का आंदोलन जारी है. री एग्जाम की मांग को लेकर लेफ्ट के छात्र संगठनों ने बुधवार को मशाल जुलूस निकाला. अखिल भारतीय विद्यार्थी संघ (AISA) और क्रांतिकारी युवा संघ (RYA) के छात्र मार्च में शामिल रहे. गुरुवार को लेफ्ट के साथ साथ अन्य विपक्षी दलों के छात्र संगठनों ने मुख्यमंत्री आवास का घेराव करने का ऐलान किया है.

बहुजन समाज पार्टी आगामी दिल्ली विधानसभा चुनाव में सभी 70 सीट पर चुनाव लड़ सकती है तथा उम्मीदवारों की पहली सूची जनवरी के मध्य तक जारी होने की संभावना है. पार्टी के एक पदाधिकारी ने बताया कि शहर को पांच जोन में बांटा गया है और सभी जोन में उम्मीदवारों के नाम तय करने की प्रक्रिया जारी है।उन्होंने कहा कि फरवरी में प्रस्तावित दिल्ली विधानसभा चुनाव 'दिलचस्प और चुनौतीपूर्ण' दोनों हैं.

पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री डॉ मनमोहन सिंह के स्मारक को लेकर प्रक्रिया शुरू हो गई है. केंद्र सरकार ने स्मारक के लिए कुछ जगहों के सुझाव दिए हैं. मनमोहन सिंह के परिवार को कुछ विकल्प दिए गए हैं. उनसे कहा गया है कि वे इनमें से कोई एक स्थान का चयन कर लें ताकि स्मारक का काम शुरू हो सके. हालांकि इसके लिए पहले ट्रस्ट का गठन जरूरी है. नई नीति के अनुसार जमीन केवल ट्रस्ट को ही आवंटित की जा सकती है.

नये साल का आगाज कड़ाके की ठंड के साथ हुआ है. दिल्ली समेत पूरे उत्तर भारत में सिरहन वाली सर्दी पड़ रही है. दिल्ली, यूपी, राजस्थान, हरियाणा,पंजाब, बिहार, झारखंड समेत कई और राज्य भीषण सर्दी की चपेट में हैं. मौसम विभाग का अनुमान है कि आने वाले दिनों में सर्दी से राहत नहीं मिलने वाली है. पहाड़ों में हो रही बर्फबारी के कारण मैदानी इलाकों का तापमान और गिर सकता है.
